Humayunpur is an urban village tucked in heart of South Delhi's Safdarjung Enclave. The locality, otherwise dominated by Jats, is also home to many migrants from the North Eastern states of India. Many food joints and restaurants serving authentic delicacies from these states have cropped up in this part of the city. From Assamese and Tibetan to Manipuri and dishes from the Lushai hills, Humayunpur is a one-stop destination for all trying these cuisines at various restaurants.
The highlight of their menu is their smoked pork preparations. Try the aromatic and flavourful smoked pork with bamboo shoot and axone (fermented soybean made in Nagaland), and smoked pork with yam and axone. A rather compact fish menu has only two dishes: fish with bamboo shoot, and fish with bamboo shoot and raja mircha. Both are worth trying and will leave you demanding their most-loved fruit beer.
Hornbill is one of the most popular restaurants in Humayunpur serving delicacies from Nagaland. Started by Rakesh Singh, who moved to Delhi in 2008 for an additional source of income, Hornbill has now become a favourite among diners. They also opened another outlet in Delhi’s Majnu Ka Tila which shut down during the pandemic.
The restaurant also has options for vegetarians. Their aloo cece and Chinese cabbage could make for a heart meal if paired with spring rolls on the side.

The Categorical Eat Pham started in 2015 as a small shop but has now expanded to a larger space. It is the perfect spot to try authentic Manipuri delicacies. With a range of thalis including vegetarian, chicken, fish, pork, buff, and duck, some dishes served at the restaurant find no match anywhere in the city.
Tharoi thongba (river-snail curry), smoked pork curry, duck curry paired with ooti (Manipuri traditional yellow peas curry), and eromba (spicy Manipuri chutney made with vegetables, mashed potatoes, and Ngari) make it to the list of the diners’ favourites from their menu.
From the vegetarian menu, don’t forget to try hawai thongba (lentil curry), and chutneys made with different vegetables and herbs. Tie your meal together with chak hao, another highlight from their menu. It is a red rice kheer scented with camphor.

Started by Goldie Mizo in 2021, Lushai serves tribal dishes from the Lushai Hills in Mizoram and Manipur. Many believe that Lushai’s dishes are an acquired dish since the restaurant uses little additional spices and salt, allowing the meat, vegetables, and herbs to retain their original taste. Lushai is all about creating magic with the original taste!
Some must-tries from the menu include their chicken and pork sanpiau, pork chow satuileih (Mizo-style noodles in pork soup topped with vegetables, egg, crispy pork and chickpea powder), pork cooked with lai xaak (local greens), and cured salmon sushi are some of the must-tries from the menu.

While Yo Tibet offers a fleet of cuisines including Bhutanese, Thai, and Chinese, it specialises in Tibetan delicacies (as the name suggests). You cannot miss trying their laphing, a cold mung bean or maida noodle dish with a filling of buff, chicken or soya (as per preference).
Their menu is richly supplied with both vegetarian and non vegetarian options. Try their Kothey (aloo momos), pork shabalay (stuffed mince), thukpa (Tibetan noodle soup), chicken potomein (homemade pasta with spicy tomato sauce), and buff thenthuk (hand-pulled noodle soup). Their fruit beer, butter tea, or apple cider all are great beverages to accompany your meal.
