Located outside the larger town of Canakkale, Kepez offers access to the fabled city of Troy, immortalized in literary history by Homer's Iliad. Also nearby is the Gallipoli Peninsula, the site of a more recent but no less infamous battle of the First World War. Monuments and museums pay moving tribute to the Allied defeat. No too far away is Assos, once a home to Aristotle, which saw other legendary visitors such as Saint Paul and Alexander the Great.
