Uninhabited Lady Franklin Island is located off Baffin Island's Hall Peninsula, at the entrance to Cumberland Sound. The island is named for the widow of Sir John Franklin, an Arctic explorer who died searching for the Northwest Passage. Ancient sea cliffs on the island may be among the oldest stones in Canada. Seabirds, seals and walrus may be spotted by visitors in the waters around the island.
