It was the birthplace of the poets Sappho and Alcaeos, Arion the Guitarist, and Pittacus, one of the seven wise men of ancient Greece. The island has a wonderful landscape, well worth exploring on your own. The most beautiful views of the island are from Kallanis Bay. There you can visit the picturesque villages Kalloni and Molyvo.
