Lundy is an island off the west coast of Britain owned by the National Trust. Its surrounding waters boast England's only maritime nature reserve. Though its history references periods of piracy and smuggling, today Lundy is a peaceful oasis, undisturbed by cars. The island is known for its wide variety of migratory birds and also offers many hiking opportunities. Depending on the time of year, visitors can even go diving or seal watching. Lundy is also home to several lighthouses, one of which has been converted to a hotel; a 13th-century castle; a Victorian church; and Marisco Tavern, a popular local hangout.
