This island is accessible by ferry from Queensland, Australia. The island has become a popular tourist destination due to the history and landmarks it holds. A little over half of the island is a national park, which includes a bird sanctuary and walking tracks. Because it was a defensive position during World War II, many remains of forts scatter the island and draw tourists every year. Another popular site is the ruins of SS City of Adelaide. The wreck has become a small island which holds a wide variety of flora and fauna.
