Midland is situated on the scenic shores of Georgian Bay and is home to the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre, a 3,000-acre habitat that is home to several species of birds, as well as beaver, porcupine, mink and river otter. Guests can visit the center's amphibian and reptile display hall, observation tower, birds of prey display and education classroom, as well as explore nature along the hiking trail or kayaking route. Other notable sites include the Jesuit mission of Sainte-Marie, a living museum depicting missionary life in the 17th century, and the Martyrs' Shrine, a Roman Catholic church commemorating five missionaries from Sainte-Marie who were martyred during the Huron-Iroquois wars.
