Santa Marta boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in Colombia as well as nearby natural attractions like the magnificent Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the Cienaga Grande and Tayrona National Park. Among its architectural landmarks are the Temple of San Francisco and the convent of Santo Domingo. Santa Marta was the first port of call for the Spanish Conquistadores and is one of the oldest cities in Latin America.
