Located approximately 18 miles off the south eastern tip of Tierra Del Fuego, Staten Island is a nature reserve set up for the protection of fur seals. Since 1923 the island was closed to tourism, but it has since been slowly allowing permitted visits for select expeditions. Spread throughout the island, visitors will find many varieties of wildlife including imperial blue-eyed shags, Magellanic penguins, South American sea lions, fur seals, and much more.
