Polar bears, small glaciers and caribou all call the park home, as well as rock formations that are over 3 billion years old. The park's name comes from the Inuktitut word Torngait, meaning "place of spirits." Torngat has been home to the Inuit and their predecessors for thousands of years. Today, Inuit continue to use this area for hunting, fishing, and travelling throughout the year.
