10 Most Popular All-Inclusive Resorts of 2019-November 2024
Nov 10, 2024 3:47 PM

We at zzdtravel.com love undiscovered, under-the-radar hotels, but there's something to be said about the well-liked, well-trodden resorts, too. After all, they lure visitors year after year with impeccable service, impressive amenities, and upscale atmospheres. From the Caribbean to Mexico, there's no shortage of all-inclusive resorts around the world. But which properties are the most popular? Whether you want to follow the crowds or escape them, check out our list of the most popular all-inclusive resorts in 2019.

Jade Mountain/zzdtravel

Almost everyone who checks in to Jade Mountain Resort is a couple seeking privacy or celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, or wedding — and it’s easy to understand why. The romantic all-inclusive resort, which holds a prime position facing St. Lucia’s iconic Pitons, is built to blend in with its natural surroundings. Each of the 29 suites comes with butler service and an open fourth wall that displays stunning sea views (most units also have private infinity pools). Rooms lack TVs, so guests can truly unplug (the no-kids-allowed policy only adds to the peaceful, quiet atmosphere). Meanwhile, the open-air restaurant serves up organic cuisine that receives rave reviews. Between meals, folks can spend their day relaxing at the spa, enjoying free daily yoga, or exploring the island by bike (rentals are available). The fact that there’s no beach may be a turnoff, but guests can take a short shuttle ride or hike down to use the two beaches, free water sports, and dive center at sister property Anse Chastanet.

The Lazy River Pool at the Excellence Playa Mujeres/zzdtravel

Situated on a secluded white-sand beach, far from the touristy Hotel Zone in Cancun, the adults-only Excellence Playa Mujeres focuses on luxury from check in to check out. The rooms here are huge and have whirlpool tubs and balconies (some with ocean views), and guests can upgrade to a swim-up suite or rooftop terrace suite with private plunge pools. All the amenities expected from a top-notch all-inclusive resort are here: seven swimming pools, a high-end spa, a theater for nightly entertainment, and activities such as non-motorized water sports, fitness classes, and Spanish lessons. On top of that, there are 10 buffet and a la carte restaurants, plus 11 bars offering premium alcohol and 24-hour room service. In other words, guests have little reason to venture off the property.

Located on a beautiful stretch of Bavaro Beach, the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana almost operates as two resorts — the family-friendly side and the adults-only section — giving guests the best of both worlds. Noteworthy facilities include a 1,300-foot lazy river-style pool with ample sun loungers, above average food at eight restaurants, a full-service spa with a hydrotherapy circuit, non-motorized water sports, a casino, and a dedicated animation staff that keeps the energy high at twice-weekly foam parties. When it comes time to retire to your room, the attractive suites beckon with free minibars and furnished outdoor spaces (some with ocean views or swim-out access).

The Caves/zzdtravel

At The Caves, an adults-only resort set along Negril’s limestone cliffs, you get what you pay for. The high price tag comes with plenty of upscale facilities, including a clifftop bar, grotto bar, ocean-view saltwater pool, full-service spa, water sports, and restaurants that emphasize local ingredients. Private candlelit cave dining is also on offer. The 12 private cottages and suites, which unfold along lush garden paths and dramatic seaside cliffs, are rustic and colorful, with air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and outdoor spaces (some have ocean views and outdoor showers). It’s no wonder The Caves is considered one of Jamaica’s most romantic hotels.

Think the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is a party-all-night, spring-break-gone-wild kind of place? Think again. With expensive nightly rates, the luxury property tends to deter booze-guzzling college-age students, and instead draws couples, friend groups, and families with young children. And with a huge array of amenities, it manages to cater to all three. Highlights include a whopping 13 swimming pools (including one for adults only and one with waterslides for kids), 12 restaurants, 23 bars and lounges, an 18-hole golf course, a massive spa and fitness center, and the Dominican Republic’s largest casino. All of the 1,775 rooms are stylish and modern, with free minibars and furnished balconies or terraces. But it’s not all about size here — the Hard Rock is also one of the most pampering resorts in Punta Cana — the rates cover 24-hour room service, nightly entertainment, and top-shelf drinks.

Upon setting foot at the Zoetry Agua Punta Cana, guests are greeted with a fruity drink and cold towel — and this impeccable service continues throughout the stay. Unlike the booze-fueled all-inclusive resorts around Bavaro, this luxury property can be described as rustic and tranquil (it’s a 45-minute drive from the airport). Expect an uncrowded white-sand beach, 96 suites with butler service, a pristine swimming pool, and one of the area’s best spas. Guests can also get a free 20-minute massage and 45-minute horseback riding tour on the beach. And if that’s not enough to entice you, the property’s Endless Privileges, which includes no formal check-in/check-out times, limitless top-shelf liquor, free laundry service, four gourmet a la carte restaurants, three bars, and a cafe, is sure to seal the deal.

Conveniently located just 20 minutes from the airport, the 350-room Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay checks all the boxes for a relaxing, worry-free vacation: all-inclusive, beachfront, and luxurious. It also happens to be for adults only, meaning you won’t be interrupted by squealing tots. Even better, the property offers a laundry list of amenities, including several ocean-view pools, 10 restaurants and cafes, nine bars and lounges, a full-service spa, nightly entertainment, and daytime activities. The all-inclusive rates cover all dining, top-shelf liquor, 24-hour room service, non-motorized water sports, and fitness facilities. The downside? The resort shares almost all of its features with next-door sister property, Secrets St. James Montego Bay.

Aerial Photography at the Le Blanc Spa Resort/zzdtravel

Le Blanc Spa Resort is the type of place where guests are greeted with cold towels and coconut milk, can have butlers unpack their clothes, and may ask pool attendants to provide bottled water and cucumbers for their eyes. It’s precisely this level of service that separates this all-inclusive from others in the area. The luxurious adults-only property also stands out for its gorgeous white-sand beach, decadent spa (guests get free access to the hydrotherapy area), and stunning outdoor pools (two with swim-up bars). There are multiple on-site restaurants that serve well-reviewed food and don’t require reservations (aside from one), plus bars offer top-shelf liquor. The fitness offerings (including daily classes like aqua spinning and Pilates) as well as the bright and modern rooms also impress.

Aerial Photography at the Sanctuary Cap Cana/zzdtravel

Love historic-looking properties as well as remote, adults-only resorts? Thanks to Sanctuary Cap Cana, an all-inclusive property in a private gated community, you don’t have to choose. Found along a lovely white-sand beach, the 323-room luxury hotel resembles a Spanish castle town. This is largely thanks to its beautifully decorated pools, restaurant and shop plaza, and several pastel-colored buildings with red-tiled roofs. All rooms are attractive, with jetted tubs and furnished outdoor spaces, while upgraded units add outdoor hot tubs, living rooms, and/or private plunge pools. A full-service spa and fitness center also stand out, as do the daily activities (think cooking classes) and all-inclusive restaurants, which include buffet, Asian, Italian, and seafood options. And although some guests have complained about the lack of variety and quality when it comes to food and alcohol, this is one of the Dominican Republic’s best (and most popular) all-inclusives.

Beach at the Hotel Riu Palace Paradise Island/zzdtravel

The Hotel Riu Palace Paradise Island is a rare commodity in the Bahamas — it’s one of the few all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean destination. At this adults-only property, guests can take advantage of a beautiful beach and lively pool (though both are crowded with vendors), a spa and sauna, four a la carte restaurants, and a buffet spread that changes often. The 379 rooms and suites are decked out with free stocked minibars and furnished balconies or terraces, many of which offer lovely sea views. Bonus: It’s located next door to mega-resort Atlantis, which means the Aquaventure water park, casinos, and nightclubs are just a short walk away.
