  If you visit on October 12th, you’ll see faith followers enter the church, some kneeling, until reaching the church and leaving a momento on the altar, symbolic of a miracle they believe was granted by the Virgin.

  Located between Guadalajara and Zapopan, Los Colomos Forest is a verdant park that offers more than exciting walking trails, but also a Japanese garden, playgrounds for children, scenic ponds, and even a horse stable.

  If you visit during the weekend, you’ll find vendors flocking to the park and selling some of their hand-made goods, which make perfect souvenirs! And about those horse stables, sometimes they offer horseback riding around the forest-like park, so make sure to inquire when you’re there!

  20 Take a walk through Parque Revolución (Parque Rojo)

  Only a few blocks away from the historic center is the Parque Revolución (Parque Rojo) which means red park, a popular hangout place for locals to meet up and hang out, and a popular public transportation stop.

  Its name, which means red park in English, comes from the fact that the park’s benches, fountains, and more are painted in red.

  So whether you’re taking a bus and your stop is Parque Rojo, or you’re looking to take a walk around the park, take a peek at some of the statues and busts dating back to the 60s, of Mexican historical figures.

  21 Do some birdwatching at Parque Agua Azul
