9 Secluded Hotels Perfect for Valentine’s Day-September 2024
Sep 22, 2024 4:36 AM

Valentine's Day is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with your loved one, but that can be hard to do in a crowded resort where dozens of other couples are trying to do the same thing. If you're planning a special getaway for the holiday, however, there are still plenty of spots where you won't need to worry about a lack of privacy. We've found nine romantic hotels that are not only super sexy but uber secluded, making it easy for quiet one-on-one time with your significant other.

Couples will realize just how wonderfully secluded this 96-suite getaway really is during the hour drive from the airport down a bumpy road. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by giant rooms with gorgeous terraces, a top-notch spa, and four high-quality restaurants, all of which are never packed with diners like those at some of the D.R.’s megaresorts. The on-site beach is private which helps to keep it quiet and calm, and couples can indulge in a vast variety of free activities such as yoga and snorkeling.

A staple in the beautiful Manuel Antonio area, the 58-room Si Como No is carefully built into a lush hillside, which means great views and winding paths surrounded by colorful flowers and wildlife. Rooms aren’t particularly luxurious, but — without TVs or Internet — they are made for romance. When you need to electronically connect, the open-air lobby does provide Wi-Fi, and the property also has a pool, two restaurants, and a lovely spa.

Since opening in 2008, the Geejam has been providing privacy to couples and celebrities in its five standalone villas. The setting, on the lush rainy foothills of Port Antonio, is secluded and gorgeous. The beach is just a 10-minute drive away and couples can enjoy luxe in-room amenities such as private decks, whirlpools, and sweeping ocean views.

The Hotel Villa Rolandi is a romantic, 35-room boutique that fully embraces the “less hectic than Cancun” vibe of Isla Mujeres. Two big draws here are the secluded location on a pristine (albeit somewhat small) white-sand beach and the “no children under 13” policy. Private terraces with whirlpools up the romance factor, and the hotel also features a gourmet restaurant, three pools, and a 42-foot yacht.

Brangelina has stayed here, so you know the luxe Caneel Bay delivers equal parts privacy and romance. Built from a historic sugar plantation, this profoundly serene 166-room resort sits on 170 acres of a protected national park dotted with seven remote beaches. Even with a quaint pool and rustic rooms that lack TVs and phones, Caneel’s attentive service and unparalleled setting make it one of the Caribbean’s best resorts.

It’s not easy to get to Blancaneaux, but it’s well worth the trip; built on a hillside overlooking Privassion Creek, the lodge sits on its own 70-acre forest preserve, meaning gorgeous natural scenery and pure serenity. One of two resorts in Belize owned by movie director Francis Ford Coppola, this fabulous hideaway features amenities such as horse stables and a tranquil spa, and and romantic wooden cabanas with thatched roofs and rustic-luxe decor boast extremely comfortable beds and nightly turndown service with candles.

One of the quieter and more subdued resorts on St. Lucia’s northern end, the luxury Cap Maison features plenty of opportunities for pampering and serenity. Rates are about where they should be (high) for a luxury boutique with so much to offer — a charming spa, activities such as couples cooking classes and nature walks, a mellow pool, an elegant cliff-top restaurant and bar with stunning views, a small beach, and rooms so gorgeous guests will be hard-pressed to find a reason to leave at all.

Situated on more than 200 acres of oceanfront land, The Ventana Inn & Spa looks like a rustic cabin nestled in the woods – yet it features 62 luxurious rooms with wood paneling and stylish modern décor. It’s as private as hotels come, and offerings such as yoga classes, Japanese baths, afternoon wine and cheese, and two pools (one of which is clothing optional) make it ideally suited for couples.

This ultra-remote, rustic-luxe hideaway is worth the bumpy, two-and-a-half hour drive from Liberia Airport. Couples will find unparalleled views, a stunning infinity pool, excellent cuisine, and a ruggedly beautiful (if rocky) beach. The sprawling property has only 56 rooms (all with terraces and hammocks) and is surrounded by lush rainforest, affording guests plenty of privacy.
