Hotel on Rivington

Just when we thought there couldn’t possibly be any more bar openings on the Lower East Side, a fresh new crop surprised us. Here’s a trio of drinking hideaways, all opened in the last couple of months, from which you can easily stroll to your East Village hotel or the neighborhood’s own Hotel on Rivington.

For tops tequilas and margaritas, head to this multilevel Mexican restaurant-lounge where good food is served on picnic-style paper plates. The catacomb-style basement space is a prime spot to imbibe amidst gold-framed mirrors. Look for the jalapeño and hibiscus margaritas. 109 Ludlow St.

To feel like you’re back in the good old college days, stop by this newbie on the block. There’s no cover charge but you will find free hot dogs, sports games, flat-screen TVs, a game room, beer pong, and live music on weekends. 152 Orchard St.

The Lower East Side offshoot of the popular Midtown spot aims to draw a younger clientele than its original counterpart. This gay piano joint has a miniscule bar and a spacious dance floor, complete with a disco ball and house tunes. Expect beer pong and all-night drink specials. 87 Ludlow St.
