Acropolis of Athens temporarily closed for the heat wave-September 2024
Sep 20, 2024 1:56 AM

0Facebook 0Twitter 0Pinterest WhatsApp0shareToday (06/12/2024) the Acropolis of Athens was closed for 5 hours (from 12.00 am to 5.00 pm) in response to the intense heat wave that hit the whole country.

Temperatures on the hill of the Acropolis were estimated at 110F (43°C), which prompted the authorities to take this measure for the health and safety of the public.

There is a chance that the Acropolis will be closed during the same time slot tomorrow (06/13/2024) as well, but be sure to keep an eye on the official website for regular and timely updates.

Also remember that, even if the Acropolis is open to the public, the top of the hill is very exposed to the sun, so bring adeguate protection and plenty of water during your visit.
