Affordable hotels for a last-minute July 4th weekend in New York City-September 2024
Sep 19, 2024 12:00 PM

There are still great, affordable hotels available for July 4th weekend, including this Four Points by Sheraton

Even though July 4th weekend is only 8 days away, it’s not too late to find a well-priced, convenient hotel in the heart of Manhattan. So if you’re planning on coming to New York City but haven’t ironed out the details yet, or if you want us to inspire you to come to New York, below you can read our recommendations for six hotels that still have availability and extremely fair prices. Whether you’re coming from far away or just need a nearby stay-cation in your own backyard, don’t miss Manhattan’s spectacular Macy’s fireworks, tanning in Central Park, and rooftop grilling that continues all weekend long. Prices shown are for July 2 through July 5.

Four Points by Sheraton Manhattan SoHo Village

A reliable chain that offers free wireless and access to a 24-hour fitness center, this hotel provides in-room comforts and features that best other hotels in its price range. Though it is situated on a drab, industrial-style street, SoHo’s famous boutiques, bars, and restaurants are just around the corner.

Location: SoHoPrice: Average $239/nightRoom available: Traditional King Room. Maximum capacity is 2.

After the jump, 5 more last-minute hotel options.

Located among the corporate skyscrapers and the leading business hotels of Midtown East, the 712-room Radisson might not be fancy — its guest rooms start especially small and can be noisy — but a nice gym, ample on-site dining, free Wi-Fi, and solid service make it a very attractive option for the price.

Lobby of The MAve

Like its sisters in South Beach, the 72-room MAve hotel (opened in 2009) uses slight style — and a few treats, like H2O bath prodcuts and a nice, free cheese spread at breakfast, to woo guests who might otherwise be dismayed with the very tiny rooms. But the price is right for a holiday weekend, especially for this good of a location.

Located in central Midtown East, this 760-room Doubletree has relatively spacious rooms (though small bathrooms), free Wi-Fi in the lobby, a convenient location, and a well-equipped gym. Decor in the rooms feels a bit bland and outdated, but for a chain hotel it offers plenty of features, decent prices, and good service.

All of Marmara’s 108 guest rooms are basically studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments with full kitchens. Some of its rooms might lack the new flat-screens, but it’s still a clean, comfortable, pet-friendly option way up in a less-touristed part of the Upper East Side, within walking distance of Central Park and the Guggenheim museum.

Location: Upper East SidePrice: Average $175/nightRoom available: Standard One Bedroom Suite. Queen bed and pullout couch in a separate living room. Maximum capacity is 4.

Lobby at St. Giles New York – The Court

The 198-room St. Giles Hotel was once a member of the hip W chain, but little has changed since its new owners took over in 2010. It’s located in Murray Hill, a convenient base for exploring the city, and its large rooms come with wonderful beds. All around, it’s a fine hotel, though the gym is two blocks away at the Tuscany.
