We're always looking for an excuse to go on vacation, and thanks in large part to pregnant celebrities, "babymoons" are becoming a very real thing. Basically considered a rite of passage -- much like a honeymoon or an anniversary getaway -- babymoons are trips that couples take when expecting, and they usually involve plenty of time for relaxing on the beach, in the spa, and by the pool while sipping (virgin) cocktails. Most celebs make for the Caribbean to celebrate their incoming spawn, but some also stay stateside and even go somewhere their little nugget might eventually enjoy. (Holly Madison took her bump to Disney!) So if you've got a baby on board (or not!), here are six celebrity-approved babymoon hotels. And if you know anything about celebrities, you know these spots are downright gorgeous.
Just last week, Vanessa announced that she and husband Nick Lachey are expecting baby number two — a sweet little girl to join older brother Camden. We wouldn’t be surprised if the duo celebrates the news by returning to Jade Mountain, where they escaped for their first babymoon back in 2012. Getting to the secluded St. Lucia resort can be tedious — especially for a pregnant person — but its organic cuisine doting service, unwavering silence (no TVs, radios, or children — sorry, Camden!), and extraordinary design (which means breathtaking views) make the long journey worthwhile.
Nick’s ex, Jessica Simpson, is also happily remarried (as of a couple weeks ago!) with kids. When she was pregnant with her first child, daughter Maxwell, she and her baby daddy, now hubby, went to the Parker Palm Springs for a weekend of relaxation. At this sexy desert resort, visitors can expect eclectic and 70s-inspired decor with a modern edge, and an entranceway that belongs on a movie set. There are also two dining options, a beautiful spa (where yoga classes are available), a golf course, an outdoor pool, and even a helipad. The couple just returned from their honeymoon a few days ago, which they spent at the Four Seasons Punta Mita, where our next celeb babymooned.
Back in 2011, Kate Hudson babymooned in Punta Mita with her partner, Matt Bellamy, and son Ryder in tow. The trio (or quartet we guess?) stayed at the luxe Four Seasons, which — although its been around for over two decades — still wows with its manicured grounds, elegant rooms, outstanding restautants, and slew of activities both for adults and kids; the list includes a full-service spa, 10 tennis courts, three pools, and a colorful kids’ club with a playground, tree fort, and tons of toys and games.
This is what we call a two-for-one special! Bethenny Frankel and then-husband Jason Hoppy combined their babymoon and honeymoon during their trip to St. Barts in 2010. And lucky for us, their entire vacation at the luxe Hotel Guanahani was captured by the cameras for her Bravo show. During happier times, the expecting couple hung out on the beach, dined by the pool, and enjoyed one-on-one time in their beautiful suite.
In 2012, Hilary Duff and husband Mike Comrie (the couple is now separated) babymooned at the Big Island’s Four Seasons just a couple months before she gave birth to son Luca. The pristine resort, the only five-pearl property on the Hawaiian island, is unlike any other resort on the Kohala Coast. Lush and beautifully landscaped grounds surround private bungalow-style rooms and suites tucked along winding paths throughout the large property. The thoughtfully designed architecture, pools (all seven of them), and public spaces are indulgent without seeming excessive. And the service is excellent.
Before she gave birth to daughter Rainbow Aurora in 2013, Holly Madison and then-fiance (now-husband) Pasquale Rotella celebrated the upcoming arrival of their little one at the Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge. Modeled after an East African safari lodge, with giraffes and gazelles that freely roam the grounds, the 762-room “lodge” is one of the Disney’s most unique resorts, and Madison clearly loved it. Not only did she rave on her blog, “We’re having a blast!” but she even held her nuptials in Disneyland.
