Just a couple of weeks ago, Well, reality star Bethenny Frankel, of Skinny Girl fame, must have been inspired by our post, because Anyone see her 40th birthday go down? Yea, that was pretty uncomfortable to watch. And while this birthday celebration was riddled by some rough patches — including bickering with her husband, Jason — it was much better than the last; fewer awkward tears, no restored mannequin (don’t ask).

While munching on coconut popsicles they were given upon their arrival, Bethenny, Jason, and baby Bryn checked out their luxe suite, complete with a plunge pool and ocean view.

The rest of the Skinny Girl crew met up with the family at the pool. While the adults lounged in the sun, Bryn attracted a new playmate. Though Bethenny joked that the toddler would be Bryn’s boyfriend, he seemed more interested in Bryn’s play toys. But Bryn wasn’t phased — she had an ice cream pop to distract her.

After Jason refused to join them for lunch (he and Bethenny had just gotten into a fight), Bethenny had to blow off some steam. So she and her “glammy” (dual makeup artist and nanny, duh) walked around the resort’s grounds and had a heart-to-heart. From the way Bethenny was talking, we were a little worried that the vacation would end sooner than planned.

But things seemed better the next day at the spa, where Bethenny and Jason enjoyed a couples’ massage. Afterwards, they got cute-sy in the cabana and enjoyed VIP treatment (that all guests at the Palmilla receive); wait staff brought them tea and fruit.

On Bethenny’s birthday, the hotel staff set up a private dinner for the gang on the beach, where the birthday girl opened presents and was serenaded by a mariachi band. Bethenny got into the spirit by dancing around in a sombrero; we think that was after a few too many Skinny Girl margaritas…when in Cabo!
