Breathtaking Views Of London Skyline From A Glass Elevator-September 2024
Sep 21, 2024 12:41 AM

Travel up 109 metres in a glass elevator at the iconic Battersea Power Station, where toxic fumes once wafted over London. The view from the elevator offers an expanse of the city's skyline and is one of the most unique 360° viewing platforms of London. Not only that, the space is all set to provide visitors with live music, fashion shows, conferences, and dinners. At a time, 40 visitors are allowed to board the lift and scale up the chimney and emerge at the top to take in the breathtaking view. The chimney lift is one of three attraction spaces on offer in the Power Station alongside shops, restaurants, and offices. The experience, which comprises an interactive multimedia exhibition and the ascent of Battersea Power Station's northwest chimney, takes approximately 30-40 minutes.

The good news is that the chimney won't burst open into space like it did in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Visitors are invited to embark on an exciting journey, beginning with an immersive experience in the Art Deco Turbine Hall A, where historical artefacts and captivating media displays recount the building's evolution over time.

From there, a swift elevator ride transports guests to the base of the iconic north-west chimney, where they board Lift 109, a state-of-the-art glass elevator. As the lift ascends, guided by celestial lights, visitors are treated to breathtaking panoramic views of London's renowned landmarks and the iconic Power Station itself, offering a truly unforgettable perspective on the cityscape.

  Interactive Spaces

At the heart of the experience lies a dynamic lighting installation, complemented by a collaborative touchscreen activity that simulates energy generation. The adventure continues into the Infinity Room, an interactive space where visitors engage with swirling energy particles, influenced by their touch.

After you're done with your ride, stroll down to the Control Room A which has been transformed into a 1930's art deco style space overlooking the turbine hall. The area has recently also seen the opening of the new US Embassy, and two new Northern line stations are being built nearby. Moreover, the renovated historic building will have hundreds of apartments as well as Apple's UK headquarters.

The process to go aboard the elevator is being managed by international venue experts, IPW. For more information and tickets, visit their website
