Can You Have 2 United Cards?-November 2024
Nov 23, 2024 5:48 AM

As one of the largest airlines in the United States, United Airlines features a wide route network and an enviable partnership within Star Alliance. United loyalists have a range of co-branded credit cards from which to choose, but what happens when you want more than one? Is it possible to have multiple United credit cards?

The quick answer is yes, you can have two or more United credit cards at a time. But it’s important to understand the different rules and criteria involved. Let’s take a look.

United credit cards currently available

United has partnered with Chase to offer a series of credit cards. They tend to keep the lineup fresh by introducing and retiring cards on occasion, though there are six currently available.

Understanding Chase bank’s credit card rules

Ever heard of the 5/24 rule? The term is used to describe Chase’s strategy when it comes to approving credit card applications. In short, this means that in order to be approved for a Chase credit card, you’ll need to have opened fewer than five new credit cards in a 24-month span.

Be aware that this is fewer than five credit cards, so you’ll need to be at four cards or under in order to gain approval. Also, this applies to all credit cards — across all issuers — not just those provided by Chase. This means that if you’ve recently opened a slew of American Express, Citi, Capital One or Discover credit cards, Chase will consider these when processing your application.
