Persian New Year begins March 20, the first day of spring. And Zaré at Flytrap restaurant in San Francisco is gearing up to celebrate in a big way.

Chef-owner Hoss Zaré, a native of Iran, will be hosting his first Persian New Year’s Celebration at his restaurant, a short hop from the W San Francisco hotel.

At communal tables, you can mingle and make new friends over a family-style spread of traditional dishes such as frog legs with pomegranate walnut sauce or Thai snapper with fennel, winter vegetables, and Persian pickle tartar.

Price is $56 per person, plus an additional $30 for unlimited paired wines.

The March 15 kick-off dinner is already sold out. But there’s still room to pull up a seat to the dinners on March 16 or March 17.

If you can’t make any of those, no worries. As in Iran, Zaré at Flytrap will continue the celebration for two weeks with nightly specials and traditional noodle soup. The noodles are a must, as they symbolize a life free from worry. And we all want that, right?

For reservations, call (415) 243-0580.
