A Destination Wedding in the D.R.
June is infamously known as wedding mayhem month. It seems like couples everywhere choose this month over any other to say their “I dos.” Even we couldn’t help but catch a little bit of the wedding bug and we’ve been doing our research. So if you happen to be planning a very last-minute wedding (perhaps a la Drew Barrymore, the mommy-to-be who tied the knot this past Saturday) or are just looking for some inspiration for your upcoming nuptials, we have all the details on where some of your favorite celebs wed. Some of the marriages may not have lasted through better or worse, but hey, at least the wedding was beautiful. Check out where stars like Megan Fox, Jennifer Garner, and Kelsey Grammer got hitched after the jump »
Pathway to the Beach at the Four Seasons Hualalai
The actress and her longtime boyfriend (remember him from 90210?) finally tied the knot in 2010 after a rocky six years riddled by a two-year engagement, followed by a split, followed by a second proposal, followed by a lost engagement ring. But all’s well that ends well and the lovebirds wed in a small ceremony on the beach at the luxurious Four Seasons, the only five-pearl property on the Big Island. Afterwards, they played around in the ocean with Green’s son and looked quite the happy family, so we hear.
Event Grounds at The Bacara Resort & Spa — Santa Barbara
Nine years before her 90210 co-star got hitched, Jennie Garth tied the knot with (in-the-making) Twilight star Peter Facinelli. Though the couple announced their split this March, happier times were had at the Bacara Resort where they wed in front of friends and family, including daughter Luca. In 2004, Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler invited guests to Halloween-themed nuptials at the resort. Though they’ve been seen looking like a happy couple more recently, the duo claimed they got divorced in 2008. So if you’re superstitious, maybe you shouldn’t plan your wedding at the resort because it doesn’t have a great track record– but it is beautiful! It has a gorgeous spa, two respected golf courses, top-tier organic Spanish cuisine, and gorgeous coastal scenery that makes for a great backdrop for wedding photos.
Chapel at the One & Only Palmilla Resort — Los Cabos
In 2008, the two-time Super Bowl MVP married his high school sweetheart at the One & Only Palmilla, easily one of the most luxurious resorts not only in Cabo, but in Mexico. We bet he had some pre-wedding jitters but Manning reportedly kept his cool by hitting up the hotel’s gym and pool just a couple of hours before the wedding. While the rehearsal dinner was held in the chapel, the ceremony and reception took place on the beach. And okay, maybe we included a few of our not-so-favorite (and nowadays, not-so-relevant) celebs in our research as well. That same year, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt eloped and wed in the hotel’s chapel. They later had a larger ceremony with camera crews present in Pasadena.
Palm Court at The Plaza — New York City
Aww — our favorite and least favorite May-December couples both got hitched at the same hotel! The adorable Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones wed at the hotel in one of the most elaborate wedding ceremonies to date in 2000. The fete (reportedly costing a cool $1.5 million) included a 10-tier cake, 20,000 roses, and 350 guests — Goldie Hawn, Jack Nicholson, and Meg Ryan were all in attendance. Just days after Grammer’s divorce from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Camille, was finalized, the funny-man married British flight attendant Kayte Walsh, twenty-six years his junior, at the iconic hotel.
Pathway to the Beach at the Parrot Cay and COMO Shambhala Retreat — Turks and Caicos
The low-key couple, now the proud parents of three, wed on the beach at Parrot Cay in 2005 when Garner was pregnant with their first child. Though the 1,000-acre all-inclusive resort on a private island is a celebrity hotspot, the duo wed in a quiet ceremony officiated by Garner’s Alias co-star Victor Garber. With an incredible infinity-edge pool, world-renowned COMO Shambhala Spa, waterfront Balinese-style villas, and doting service, Parrot Cay is easily one of the most luxurious and romantic options in the Caribbean.
