Sheraton Boston Hotel

Boston has a wealth of fine dining establishments, but if you want to have a beautiful view to help you digest the food just a little better, the list of choices diminishes considerably. If you’re one who appreciates the ambiance a great view can provide, then please read on!

The best known “view” in Boston is at the Top of the Hub Restaurant, which sits high atop the Prudential Center Tower in Back Bay (800 Boylston Street, adjacent to the Sheraton Boston Hotel). Plus, if all you’re after is a great view, you can just have a nightcap in the lounge.

One of Boston’s newer entries is The Daily Catch at the Moakley Courthouse, just over the bridge to South Boston at 2 Northern Avenue. The views back toward the Financial District skyline are spectacular and the fish dishes ain’t bad either. For most of the year, there is a lot of outdoor patio seating available.

Just down the street from The Daily Catch is the venerable stalwart, Anthony’s Pier Four (140 Northern Avenue). One never tires of the ships passing by (and announced sometimes!) and the views off in the distance of the Airport across the Harbor. Enjoy your meal with their world-famous popovers. Anthony’s is one of the larger restaurants around, so seating is seldom a problem and it’s about the only place left that has their own free parking lot.

The best value of the bunch is Joe’s American Grill & Bar (100 Atlantic Avenue). I know what you’re thinking – a chain? Well, no other Joe’s that I know of has million-dollar views to go along with the food. It sits adjacent to Christopher Columbus Park and The North End Waterfront, overlooking the marina and Harbor. Outdoor patio dining is available in the summer.
