It's Olympics season!
And if you're not avidly watching sports all day yet following that epic opening ceremonyon The Seine, what are you doing?
Cheer on the USA at theParis Olympics(bonus, beautiful shots of the city between sporting events), and seeSimone Biles and the U.S. gymnastics teamdominate their routines, witness records breaking and so much more. The USA is already in the lead with the medal count, and with many athletes posed to win in their categories, it can only get better.
Here's how the U.S. is performing so far:
Every U.S. medal winner at the Paris Olympics 2024 (so far) Swimmers Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook won the first medal for Team USA, a silver medal in diving. The men's swim team won Team USA its first gold medal with the 100-meter freestyle race on July 27.

At Tokyo 2020, the USA won 113 medals, the most medals of any country, with39 gold, 41 silver, and 33 bronze medals in total.
Throughout history at the Summer Olympic Games, Team USA has a total of 2,638 medals (1,065 of them gold) and another 330 medals (114 of them gold) at the Winter Olympic Games.
What has the USA won in the Olympics in 2024? The USA has earned gold medals in men's and women's swimming and women's fencing. The USA has won silver medals in women's diving, men's and women's swimming, women's fencing, and men's skateboarding. Team USA also has bronze medals in road cycling, men's and women's swimming, men's skateboarding, men's fencing, and men's artistic gymnastics.
Both the USA men's and women's basketball teams won their first games of the tournament. The U.S. women's soccer team has also won its first two matches and is advancing to the quarterfinals. Coco Gauff, the 20-year-old U.S. Open Champion, won her first two singles matches, but lost in the third round. She is still competing withJessica Pegula in the doubles match.
