Rome, Milan, Venice & More From $385 RT Roundtrip flights to Italy can cost you $1,000 or more, depending on where you're coming from. While it might be easier to grab a deal closer to $600 or $700 from East Coast hubs like New York, D.C., or Miami, that's no sure thing.

But earlier this month, the airlines started dropping prices to fill seats flying overseas. Then the other airlines dropped their prices leading the competing airlines to drop their fares a little more which led the other airlines to OK, you get it by now.

This flight deal we sent to Thrifty Traveler Premium members last week included super-low fares to Italy from more than 100 U.S. and Canadian airports big and small. Here are a few of them.

And just a few weeks before that, we rounded up these stellar nonstop flights to Milan (MXP) and Rome (FCO) at low, low prices, too!

Every fare you've seen so far in this post has been flying American, Delta, United or one of their foreign airline partners. But because Italy is so popular, a number of budget airlines also fly there. This is important for two reasons: One, those airlines put a lot of competitive pressure on the big carriers, forcing them to cut prices down into the $500s and even $400s roundtrip.

But those budget airlines also give you some stellar fares of their own, like this nonstop, roundtrip flight from New York (JFK) to Rome (FCO) from just $384.

We included that fare in a roundup of cheap Norse Atlantic fares, and we even added in the price of a carry-on bag ($90 roundtrip). But if you can stomach just packing in a personal item, you could get to Italy from several U.S. cities for less than $300 roundtrip!

Recently, Icelandair, another wallet-friendly airline added Rome (FCO) as a destination, and with it, they added one of the best values in travel: free stopovers.

This Icelandair deal featured a good chunk of sub-$600 and sub-$500 roundtrip fares to Rome, but the beauty is you can tack on up to three days in Iceland on either end of the trip for right around the same price! Visiting two destinations for the price of one: That's traveling on expert mode.

Sipping champagne before take-off, white table-clothed meal service at 35,000 feet, and a good night's sleep in your own bed before waking up in Italy sounds nice but expensive, right?

Wrong.

ITA Airways flies nonstop to Rome (FCO) and Milan (MXP) from several U.S. cities with some excellent business class seats at the front of the plane. You can book them with Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points some of the easiest points to earn because you can transfer them from Amex, Bilt, Capital One, Chase, or Citi.

It'll cost you just 75,000 to 85,000 Virgin points each way, depending on your departure city. But thanks to a recent 30% transfer bonus to Virgin, you could have booked these seats for as few as 58,000 Chase points!

We just flew ITA Business Class and loved it. And with the flexibility to book with either Virgin or FlyingBlue, you might have the points to make it happen and not even know it!

It's a super swanky way to fly to Italy. And that's just the start.

When you think of luxurious travel, you probably have the idea of Emirates Airlines in your head. I know I do. So, what if I told you you don't have to connect in Dubai (DXB) at all to take advantage of Emirates business class?

Emirates lies a funky one-off route between New York (JFK) and Milan (MXP) all year long, meaning you can fly nonstop to Italy on the massive, double-decker A380 in ridiculous style. (Yes, that's an onboard bar in the photo above – available to all business class passengers.)

You can easily turn points from Amex, Bilt, Capital One, Chase, and Citi into Emirates Skywards miles and secure these seats for yourself for just 87,000 miles each way, or 108,000 roundtrip in some cases.

If you'd rather fly a U.S. airline to Italy, you should look no further than American Airlines, which has been releasing award space to fly nonstop to Rome in AA business class for travel all summer long.

Most of these fares are long gone by now, but when we sent them to our Thrifty Traveler Premium subscribers, they devoured them! The left side column is what you'll pay in AAdvantage miles and the right side are the lesser rates when you book with Alaska Airlines miles instead. Either way, these rates are a steal for peak summer business class flights to Italy on American.

No points? No problem! You can also fly lie-flat to Italy using cash, and that's only an option for most travelers if those seats are at least half-off.

Condor Airlines has a brand new business class seat that we're obsessed with. It might be one of the best airplane seats flying today, and if you can secure a roundtrip flight to Florence (FLR), Milan (MXP), Rome (FCO), or Venice (VCE) in one of these incredible seats, you'd be doing yourself a favor.

Travelers in Condor hubs like Baltimore (BWI), Edmonton (YEG), and Minneapolis (MSP) got the best of this deal.
