Here’s one way to avoid crowds: Stay at a luxurious, adults-only resort tucked away on a private island that’s reachable only by boat or seaplane. Yup, that sounds like a pretty perfect plan, and the fits that description to a tee. Most guests to the resort choose the boat option, and the hotel provides a water transfer from Little Torch Key, where reception is located, to the tiny five-and-a-half acre island where the property sits; once guests arrive, they’re greeted by a welcome cocktail. Crushed seashell-laden paths lead to Little Palm’s handful of individual oceanfront villas with private sundecks, outdoor showers, secluded hot tubs, and panoramic views of the ocean. It’s not uncommon to see key deer — mini deer only found in the Florida Keys — roaming the island and hanging out by the resort-style pool in the middle of the property. The resort also offers tons of non-motorized water sports at its beach, a lovely on-site restaurant, and a luxurious spa. Take a tour of the property after the jump >>
