When "Fifty Shades of Grey" debuted as a trilogy several years ago, hotels across the country were quick to offer guests naughty packages inspired by the story -- which features plenty of sexy (and sometimes scary?) hotel rendezvous. Well, now that the film is set to be released in just a couple weeks, the industry is back at it, with "Fifty Shades of Grey" hotel packages offering steamy amenities -- everything from pleasure kits to "Red Room of Pain" cocktails. And with a Valentine's Day release date, the timing couldn't be better; couples around the world are seeking romantic getaways with sex appeal for the holiday. Nothing ups the ante more than whips and chains, right?!

Through the end of the month, guests of the B Ocean Resort can book the “Fifty Shades of B!” package for a steamy getaway to Fort Lauderdale — which, we must say, may be preferable this time of year versus Seattle, where the film is based. Package goodies include a silk tie, bottle of Pouilly Fume wine, platter of cheese and fruit, and “love kit.” Guests can also opt for a helicopter ride (for an additional fee) to recreate Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele’s first date.
Part of the cheeky Kimpton brand, New York’s Eventi is primed for Valentine’s Day with a “50 Shades of Grey” package of its own. And with “endless memories” listed as one of the featured amenities, it promises to make for an amorous weekend in the city. Other amenities include a bottle of champagne, a room service menu specifically designed to set the mood (guests can order oysters, strawberries, and chocolate), two tickets to the nearby Museum of Sex, $200 credit to either La Perla or Agent Provacateur, a couple’s massage, and a kit with toys like a paddle, spanking powder, a tie, and bondage.
Eventi’s sister property isn’t missing out on the naughty fun, either. Ink48, a Kimpton hotel, is offering the same package through the end of the month.
To be honest, we’re not that impressed by the “Grey Shades of Olive 8” package, which includes an appetizer and Grey-inspired cocktails at the Hyatt’s restaurant, a “chef’s choice” welcome amenity, and valet parking. However, the hotel’s location in Seattle makes it a great jumping off point for exploring various city sights that make appearances in the trilogy and film, and the hotel provides guests with a walking map of “50 Shades of Grey” landmarks.
Eden Roc, on the other hand, knows how to make things sufficiently steamy this Valentine’s Day. “50 Shades of Romance” includes a stay in a luxury suite, a bottle of champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, a discounted room service menu for a private meal a deux, “Red Room of Pain” cocktails for two at the hotel bar, two tickets to a local showing of “50 Shades of Grey,” a custom do-not-disturb sign, a kit with naughty toys and romantic goodies, AND a private lingerie shopping experience at Eberjey (where guests will receive 10 percent off their purchases).
We’re not surprised that Hotel Diva, a San Francisco boutique known for its comfy beds and naughty decor, is offering a Grey-inspired package. Dubbed “50 Shades of Women…Come Again,” it includes a vibrator, whip, paddle, silk restraint, tickler, lubricant, condoms, and handcuffs. And bonus — you can feel good about being bad! For every package purchased, the hotel donates $10 to the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund.
Along with Hotel Diva, Kensington Park belong to the Personality Hotels brand, and is thus offering the same package — in a slightly more refined space a block from Union Square.
Just a few blocks from sister property Kensington Park, this hotel offers the same package, as well as cozy rooms and a free happy hour.
