How to Transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards Points to Travel Partners
How to Transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards Points to Travel Partners-November 2024
Nov 8, 2024 2:01 AM

With a Chase travel credit card, you can take advantage of the flexibility of the Chase Ultimate Rewards® program, including the ability to transfer your points to many hotel and airline partners. Are you wondering how to transfer Chase points to travel partners? It’s easy to do and can help you maximize the value of your credit card points.

Here’s what you need to know to transfer Chase points to partners.

The value of Chase points

Chase Ultimate Rewards® points can be valuable, but how you use them matters. For example, redeeming points for cash back isn’t the best choice. Points are only worth 1 cent each this way. Redeeming points for travel through the Chase Ultimate Rewards® portal may be a good option. But the value that you get will vary based on the card you have. For example, you’ll get a value of 1.25 cents per point if you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card.

Each point is worth 1.50 cents with this redemption option if you have the Chase Sapphire Reserve®.

Transferring points to a travel transfer partner may provide even more value. The exact value depends on which transfer partner you use and how you put your points to use. With this method, NerdWallet estimates the value to be as much as 2.2 cents per point.

How to transfer Chase points

Transferring your Chase points to airline and hotel partners is simple. You can transfer points via the Chase mobile app or Chase’s website.

1. Log into your account and enter the Chase Ultimate Rewards® portal

First, you’ll want to log into your account. Once logged in, find the area where it says “Rewards.” You’ll need to click on this to access the Chase Ultimate Rewards® portal.

Once you have done this you will be directed to a page featuring a variety of ways to earn and spend you points.

2. Access the 'Transfer to Travel Partners' portion of the portal

You can access this section in one of two ways. The first way is by clicking the arrow next to where your total points are displayed on the top menu bar. Clicking on this arrow will open up a separate menu with different options. Click on “Transfer to Travel Partners.”

The second way to access this area is by clicking on the three lines on the top left menu bar. Doing this will open up a separate side menu bar on the left of your screen. Below your credit cards, you’ll see “Earn/Use” options, including “Transfer to Travel Partners.” Go ahead and click on that to begin the transfer process.

3. Select your transfer partner

Now you’ll see transfer options. Chase lists airline partners first. As you scroll down, you’ll see more airline options, and then you’ll see the hotel options:

4. Transfer your Chase points

When you’re ready to make your transfer, click “Transfer Points” for your transfer partner of choice. We’ll use Southwest Airlines as an example to show you how the process works.

Chase will ask you to choose the recipient. The recipient can be the cardholder or any authorized user on your credit card account. Next, you’ll need to provide loyalty account details. After confirming this information, click “Continue.”

Next, you’ll need to enter how many points you want to transfer. Remember, you must transfer at least 1,000 points. All point transfers are final and can’t be reversed, so make sure that you’re moving the correct amount of points. After doing this, click “Continue.”

5. Confirm and submit

Chase will then prompt you to confirm the details of your transfer, and you’ll be able to transfer your points by clicking “Confirm & Submit.” The timing for transfers can vary. Some transfers are instant, while others may take several hours or days to show up in your account.
