How World of Hyatt Partnerships Can Earn You More Hotel Points
How World of Hyatt Partnerships Can Earn You More Hotel Points-December 2024
Dec 27, 2024 1:26 AM

World of Hyatt points are a valuable currency for its members when it comes to free travel and wellness experiences. So racking up hotel points however you can reaps big rewards — and as it turns out, there are a lot more ways to earn Hyatt points beyond just stays at any World of Hyatt-participating hotel to earn points or one of the many Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties. These Hyatt partners allow you to earn points for spending with them, too.

Outside of staying in a hotel, there are lots of other partnerships in the World of Hyatt program, including the option to transfer points to friends and relatives if they need points for an award. Here’s a rundown of where to earn and redeem those points with Hyatt’s many partners.

World of Hyatt Credit Card

The World of Hyatt Credit Card is for Hyatt’s most loyal fans and is the most obvious way to quickly rack up points. It awards 4 points per dollar spent on Hyatt stay-related purchases and double points on dining, transit, flights and gym memberships. That is in addition to the 5 points per dollar spent (plus any elite tier bonuses) you earn on Hyatt stays. You also get a free Category 1-4 night after your first anniversary of having the card.

Other Chase cards that earn Chase Ultimate Rewards® points

If you don’t want a hotel-branded credit card and prefer a more generic travel credit card, look to Chase as a prime way to earn points that can be used at Hyatt hotels. You can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards® points to your Hyatt account if you hold the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or the Chase Sapphire Reserve®.

American Airlines

The reciprocal perk program between American and Hyatt is the most rewarding of hotel-airline connections out there as it doles out points and miles in addition to benefits for elite members in both programs. United and Marriott’s collaboration does not offer bonus points or miles like this one.

World of Hyatt elite members can earn 1 point for every dollar spent on flights. And the good news is you can double dip, as you'll still earn American Airlines frequent flyer miles for those flights too.

In reverse, American AAdvantage elite members earn 1 mile for every dollar spent on Hyatt stays (again, double-dipping to earn World of Hyatt points as well). Never pass up free points, but remember that you must link your accounts to take advantage.

Other airline partners

You can convert your World of Hyatt points to frequent flyer miles of one of the Hyatt airline partners, although this is not the best value of your points. These redemptions tend to be a bad deal, so we only encourage them in rare situations such as you're just a smidge short of a frequent flyer award.

Another note: when transferring Hyatt points to frequent flyer programs, they need to be transferred in increments starting at 5,000 points at a time. Considering you can redeem 5,000 points for a free night at Category 1 hotels in World of Hyatt, there are better ways to spend your points than airline mile transfers.

Lindblad Expeditions

World of Hyatt members have access to a special hotel-cruise partnership with Lindblad Expeditions, which is known for its edge of the earth-like expeditions. Members earn 5 points per dollar spent on Lindblad Expeditions sailings or can redeem points on any of its nearly 300 annual cruises to places like Greenland, Antarctica or the Amazon.

FIND Experiences

FIND experiences, which can be purchased by redeeming World of Hyatt points, are Hyatt’s newest way to take part in educational or mindfulness activities, which goes hand in hand with the brand’s focus on overall health and well-being in travel. Everything from calligraphy and cooking lessons to private classes with Broadway actors or professional athletes is up for grabs using your points.

Most are available for a flat amount of points, although for U.S. and Mexico-based experiences, there’s the added option to pay for them in cash. Doing so comes with the extra perk of earning 10 World of Hyatt points per dollar spent. If you double down with World of Hyatt partners and use the brand’s affiliated credit card, you’ll earn an additional 4 points per dollar spent.

This is also a great way to give unique experiences as a gift to friends or family without having to fork over big bucks since you can pay with points.

Miraval

World of Hyatt members can earn and redeem points at one of three Miraval properties. Travelers can also redeem a combination of points and cash for a Miraval stay.

Avis

Avis Preferred members can earn 500 points when renting a car from qualifying Avis locations around the world. Another option is to redeem 6,000 World of Hyatt points per day for one day’s rental of an intermediate car in participating locations. As always, to maximize your points, it is important to compare the cost of one day’s car rental with the value that you can receive with those 6,000 points elsewhere before redeeming.

With so many Hyatt partners upon which you can earn and redeem World of Hyatt points through, the program is one to keep top of mind in your travels.
