Located in Murray Hill, the Affinia Shelburne is a bit of a hike from most popular tourist attractions, but this attractive, low-key property is a great value option. Many rooms — complete with bright decor and up-to-date electronics — are equipped with kitchenettes, and all are outfitted with “spa-like” bathrooms. Careful thought (and money) went into the rich black granite countertops, the marble-tiled bathtubs, and the tasteful lighting that grants a candle-lit glow. Plus, as an Affinia property, the hotel is extremely pet-friendly. But the real highlight here is the rooftop bar — a popular spot among tourists and locals on warmer nights — which offers gorgeous views of the New York City skyline, including the Chrysler building (many rooms have nice views as well). The on-site restaurant, Rare, serves up tasty fare in a casual setting and is known for its burgers. See more incredible photos after the jump or read our full review now»
