Though it went up for sale over a year ago, the iconic United Artists building -- home to the Los Angeles outpost of the Ace Hotel and the United Artists Theater -- finally sold at the beginning of the month for a cool $103 million. Fans of the hip property feared this could possibly mean the demise of the hotel -- or at least, major changes that would alter the whole vibe. But everyone can rest easy; new owners, the Chesapeake Lodging Trust, revealed that there will be "no changes to staff, management, or daily operations.". And we think that's great news, because we love it just as it is! Opened in 2014, the 182-room Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles features a cool music theme, and many of the industrial-chic, dimly-lit rooms come with Martin Guitars and Ace x Rega turntables, plus a curated selection of vinyl records. All -- from Small to Ace Suites -- include free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, minibars, Rudy's toiletries, and Pearl + soaps. Upstairs, the rooftop bar offers events every night, and there's also a rooftop pool with great views. The on-site restaurant, L.A. Chapter, serves kicky American cuisine. Moon Juice offers cold-pressed beverages, while the Coffee Counter keeps everyone caffeinated.
