Most Romantic All-Inclusive Resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico
Most Romantic All-Inclusive Resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico-November 2024
Nov 29, 2024 12:49 AM

Many all-inclusive resorts come with rowdy pool scenes and boisterous kid-friendly activities, but there are plenty that offer a more subdued atmosphere geared toward a romantic getaway. For honeymooning couples, or families that prefer a more laid-back vibe and options for adult time, we've rounded up the most romantic all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico.

1. Jade Mountain Resort, St. Lucia

Certainly one of the most romantic and breathtaking resorts in the Caribbean, Jade Mountain is a gorgeous, uniquely designed property providing incredible Piton views in St. Lucia. The 29 enormous suites here have an open fourth wall, which allows for sea views from the entire room, including the canopied beds, raised whirlpool tubs, and (in all but the entry-level category) private infinity pools. Most guests opt for the optional all-inclusive plan, as dining can be pricey and the package covers three organic, delicious meals, afternoon tea, and some drinks. Although there’s no beach, an outdoor pool, spa treatments, and free daily yoga are standouts, plus guests can take a short shuttle ride or hike down to use the two beaches, free water sports, and dive center at sister property Anse Chastanet.

2. The Caves, Jamaica

The Caves is considered to be one of Jamaica‘s most romantic escapes, with a spectacular cliffside setting, upscale amenities, and intimate vibe. There are just 12 unique, colorful, and private cottages that sit among lush greenery and rugged cliffs that are popular for cliff-jumping. Rum cocktails and Red Stripe can be enjoyed at a clifftop bar and one set in a striking grotto, plus the hotel offers excellent food with a focus on local ingredients. A small pool, spa for various treatments, snorkeling gear, and cooking classes provide ample to keep busy. The atmosphere is relaxed and ideal for couples’ retreats, as the resort does not accept children under 16 (due to the precarious location along Negril’s cliffs).

3. Beloved Playa Mujeres, Cancun

The 109-room Beloved Playa Mujeres eschews the party-hearty vibe of Cancun with its sexy boutique feel and luxurious offerings. Situated on a beautiful, long white-sand beach, this adults-only all-inclusive is located in the Playa Mujeres region just north of Cancun. Guests can make use of three chic outdoor pools with food and drink service, an expansive spa with an impressive hydrotherapy circuit, and four excellent a la carte eateries. However, many guests may be tempted to just stay in their stylish and huge (starting at 960 square feet) rooms that have big whirlpool tubs and private balconies — many with ocean views and some with plunge pools.

4. Spice Island Beach Resort, Grenada

Spice Island is a serene oasis amidst the bustling Grand Anse beach area in Grenada. This luxury, beachfront resort is one of the most elegant and well-regarded hotels on the island. The 64 posh suites have contemporary decor, separate living rooms, and jetted tubs, plus many have private pools. There are two upscale restaurants and premium liquor is part of the all-inclusive rate. A beautiful spa, a variety of activities, and a kids’ club to keep the little ones busy make this an excellent pick for both couples and families. An outdoor pool area is peaceful, but the beautiful beach is shared by locals and guests of nearby resorts.

5. Fowl Cay Resort, Bahamas

Seclusion and an intimate vibe draw well-heeled travelers to Fowl Cay Resort in the Bahamas, as it occupies its own private island where a maximum of 28 guests are allowed at a time. Visitors have access to 50 acres and three uncrowded beaches, as well as personal boats for daily excursions, free kayaks and snorkeling gear, and a small pool. All-inclusive rates cover all meals and top-shelf liquor, and the six spacious villas (ranging from one to three bedrooms) come with fully stocked kitchens and wet bars. This property is a standout gem in the Exumas.

6. Excellence Playa Mujeres, Cancun

With an adults-only policy, stunning beachfront setting providing gorgeous sunset vistas, and luxury service, the Excellence Playa Mujeres is one of the most romantic and best all-inclusive properties in all of Mexico. The 450 modern, elegant rooms are huge and have big whirlpool tubs and balconies — some with ocean views. Certain categories have swim-up access or private plunge pools. Seven pools and a high-end spa provide relaxation, while nine restaurants and 11 bars ensure guests never have to travel far to get a cocktail. The secluded location is part of the appeal for many, though numerous activities are also on offer, including kayaking, snorkeling, paddleboarding, scuba lessons, yoga, and Spanish classes.

7. Ladera Resort, St. Lucia

The luxury Ladera Resort, also an adults-only property, is set on a forested ridge overlooking the Pitons. The resort’s 32 rooms have rustic-chic decor and are completely open to the elements on one side. Private plunge pools and two-person swings facing the mountains provide an undeniably romantic atmosphere. Although not automatically an all-inclusive, guests can purchase meal plans and dine at the wonderful on-site restaurant. A clifftop pool is available for those looking to get out of their room, as is a spa with outdoor mineral pools. There’s no beach on the property, but the resort provides free shuttle service to nearby Sugar Beach.

8. Pepes Hideaway, Manzanillo

Located in a private community, Pepes Hideaway is a rustic, stunning property set along the cliffs in Manzanillo, Mexico. The hotel has just six bungalows, and as kids are rarely preset, the result is an intimate and peaceful hideaway. Bungalows have furnished balconies with hammocks — where morning coffee and cake are delivered — stocked mini-fridges, free Wi-Fi, and robes. Try to snag Bungalow 2 or 3 for the best views. Included in rates are three delicious meals prepared each day by the well-regarded chef, plus beer, wine, and margaritas are available 24/7. There’s an on-site pool with an adjacent whirlpool, and a private beach is a 10-minute walk away, or staff will drive guests there.

9. Round Hill Hotel & Villas, Jamaica

Easily one of the most impressive resorts in Jamaica, Round Hill Hotel & Villas is a luxurious property set a 30-minute drive from Montego Bay. Along the property’s edge, shallow patches of soft beach lie between gnarled tree roots and coarse rock cliffs, and all rooms face the ocean. The resort consists of 27 hillside villas (divided into 74 suites) and 36 rooms that were designed by Ralph Lauren, featuring white decor, outdoor spaces, bathrobes, and sitting areas. As a la carte meals are pricey, the all-inclusive rate is a better value and covers three meals, round-trip airport transfers, all alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks by the glass, and a bottle of sparkling wine, gift basket, and tropical fruit plate upon arrival. Although families are frequent guests, the atmosphere remains peaceful.

10. Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort, San Jose del Cabo

Set in San Jose del Cabo, the Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf &Spa Resort is a 500-suite, adults-only resort that opened in late 2014. Manicured grounds are sprawling and offer great views of the Sea of Cortez, especially from the two outdoor pools — one for partying and one that’s quiet — and golf course. All-inclusive rates cover alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages at the six bars and well-regarded food at eight restaurants that provide a good amount of variety. Modern, elegant rooms have romantic touches, plus some are swim-out or have hot tubs on their terraces.

11. Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, Dominican Republic

Since it opened in 1974, the luxury Casa de Campo hotel has been a favorite for couples and families seeking a swish beachfront property with ample for both kids and adults. It’s part of a massive, 7,000-acre resort community that includes three world-renowned golf courses, a beautiful beach, marina, a quaint “town” of Altos de Chavon, and numerous leisure activities. The 454 elegant rooms have modern amenities. The optional all-inclusive package covers all meals, room service, and cocktails and drinks at the included restaurants, bars, and lounges, in addition to unlimited horseback riding, tennis, and non-motorized water sports.

12. Verana Hotel, Yelapa

The all-inclusive-optional Verana is an adults-only boutique resort nestled in a hillside high atop the bay of Yelapa, a small village that’s 45 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta and only reachable by boat. The property has just eight uniquely designed, rustic houses that include open-air rooms perched out over the jungle. Some rooms have private pools, though there’s also a lovely main infinity pool. While facilities are limited, the secluded jungle experience — which includes a quality restaurant, romantic spa, and classes such as yoga and cooking — is popular among couples looking for a nature-filled retreat.

13. Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort, St. Lucia

Set right in between the Pitons — St. Lucia’s famous volcanic spires — and on a beautiful white-sand beach, the luxurious Sugar Beach has a breathtaking setting. It has 79 chic all-white rooms featuring private plunge pools and butler service, plus larger villas and cottages add living rooms and huge bathrooms — some with outdoor showers and hot tubs. The romantic tree-house spa is popular for decompressing, while an outdoor pool, tennis courts, and free water sports provide options for the more activity-minded. The resort’s restaurants and bars are pricey, albeit delicious, and all-inclusive rates are available to help cut down on costs.

14. Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita, Puerto Morelos

The 90-room Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita is a luxury boutique with an attractive beachfront location, about 20 minutes by car from Puerto Morelos. All-inclusive rates come with an array of freebies, such as private chauffeured airport transfers, a round of golf, all meals at the three restaurants — spicy fusion cuisine and a sushi/ceviche bar among them — and top-shelf liquor at three bars. Swish amenities consist of a large outdoor pool and Thalasso therapy center with seawater treatments. Another highlight is that all rooms are striking oceanfront suites with elegant decor, modern amenities, and free daily sparkling wine.

15. Casa Velas, Puerto Vallarta

The adults-only Casa Velas houses 80 spacious, posh rooms inside the gated Marina Vallarta community, surrounded by a golf course. It earns a spot as one of the area’s top options for stellar personalized service, peaceful vibe, and high-end features. The large rooms (starting at around 463 square feet) have an elegant Mexican style, impressive bathrooms, and espresso machines, plus some have private hot tubs or plunge pools. Property features include a large freeform pool with a swim-up bar, a second pool at the private (off-site) beach club, two restaurants (gourmet Mexican cuisine and Asian fusion), a nice spa, and golf privileges at Marina Vallarta Golf Club.

16. Le Blanc Spa Resort Cancun

Located in the Hotel Zone, Le Blanc Spa Resort Cancun is a beautiful adults-only all-inclusive property set on a wide, white-sand beach. Its 260 rooms are stylish and impressive, thanks to their two-person whirlpool tubs, Apple TVs with Netflix, and furnished outdoor spaces. Resort features are also top-notch, encompassing three freeform outdoor pools — two with swim-up bars — a huge spa area with a free-to-use hydrotherapy circuit, impressive and varied dining options, evening shows, and butler service. Couples shouldn’t skip the in-room aromatherapy and special bath preparations offered.

17. Sanctuary Cap Cana, Punta Cana

The adults-only Sanctuary Cap Cana is romantic, luxurious, and all-inclusive, offering couples a gorgeous retreat along a pretty white-sand beach in Punta Cana. The property was designed to resemble a Spanish castle, and there are multiple sections of the hotel for guests to choose from. Regardless, rooms are lovely, with a local style, furnished balconies or patios, separate bathtubs and showers, and daily restocked minibars. Resort features range from multiple outdoor pools and a spa to several well-regarded restaurants and an adjacent golf course. An added benefit is its location a 15-minute taxi ride from Punta Cana International Airport.

18. Royal Hideaway Playacar, Playa del Carmen

Also an adults-only all-inclusive resort, the 200-room Royal Hideaway Playacar is a well-reviewed beachfront property in a resort community just south of Playa del Carmen. Rates cover meals at six restaurants — Mexican, Asian, and Italian among them — drinks at several bars, and access to a variety of facilities. Rooms have a sophisticated, warm design, and all come with furnished outdoor spaces, jetted tubs, and iPod docks, plus some have whirlpools on their terraces. The beach is certainly a highlight, but outdoor pools, a full-service spa, and free non-motorized water sports add to its appeal.
