One Hotel Takes Pet-Friendly to the Next Level by Checking In a Horse-November 2024

There are plenty of pet-friendly hotels out there for travelers bringing their furry friends with them -- notably the Kimpton chain, among others -- but nine times out of 10, a “pet” refers to a dog or a cat. That being said, when riding coach Lindsey Partridge traveled from Canada to Kentucky with her horses for a show, she was able to find them a comfy accommodation, not at a stable, but in room at the Super 8 in Georgetown, Kentucky.

Upon arrival, Partridge noticed a dog in the lobby, and she jokingly asked the receptionist if she could bring in her horses. “Oh, I don't care. Sure, bring them in," said the receptionist, according to ABC News. So Partridge did just that, walking one of her horses, Blizz, through the lobby, stopping at the front desk to pose for a photo, and right into her hotel room. Partridge and Blizz posed for a few more photos, which were posted to Facebook and earned the duo 15 minutes of social media fame.

Unfortunately, it looks like this might have been a one-time deal. Super 8 gave the following statement to ABC News: “We did not know she was going to bring the horse into the facility. We are pet-friendly, and it is [for animals] 25 pounds and under. We had no knowledge of it being in the room."

So if you’re looking to bring your horse on your next trip, you might do better staying at a hotel on a working farm (though you should definitely call ahead!).
