Location: Midtown East, New York City

Affinia hotels charges a one-time $25 fee for keeping a pet in the room — but there’s no weight limit and pets of all kinds are welcome. Food, water bowls, doggie sidewalk bags or cat litter pans, and a list of pet-friendly restaurants and resources are all part of the “Jet-Set Pets” program. The “Happytails Travel Dog Spa Amenity,” available for an extra $15.50, includes skin moisturizer, odor remover, mosquito repellent, and a bad-breath zapper. The concierge can arrange everything from grooming and dog-walking services to gourmet birthday cakes and a pet taxi — and even a pet psychic for your troubled parakeet. Rooms are spacious and the Peter Detmold Dog Run is just three blocks east at Beekman Place.

Location: Gramercy and Murray Hill, New York City

The Affinia Dumont has more than a great gym — the entire hotel is fitness-themed, with a Fitness Concierge that doubles as a personal trainer, fitness tips on the elevator TV monitors, and special Experience Kits designed to keep guests fit through walking or yoga. Strength training fit kits that come with an exercise ball and weights can be ordered for the room.

Location: Upper East Side, New York City

Affinia Gardens’ room service is available 24 hours a day from four local restaurants: Accademia di Vino, China Fun, Jackson Hole, and Silver Star. Orders are routinely fulfilled promptly, but real room-service highlight is the shockingly affordable breakfast (at least compared to other NYC hotels). For $10, you can get a piece of fruit, a pastry or muffin, yogurt or cereal, a granola bar, coffee or tea, and juice.

Couples who want a sexy stay without the bumping and grinding of D.C.’s super-sleek hotels (read: W and Donovan House) will appreciate Liaison’s more mature, refined approach to hip (despite the hotel’s scandalous name). The rooms are sophisticated, the lobby is stylish, and the seasonal pool deck is the hottest in town.
