The city of Ende serves as a gateway between Flores and Sumba or Kupang. However, it is not to be dismissed as a destination. Ende is surrounded by spectacular views, black-sand beaches, and a cobblestone coastline. The Gunung Meja and Gunung Iya cones preside over the city, and the road to Kelimutu overlooks gushing waterfalls and flowing rivers. There are many other things to see and do in Ende as well, such as visiting the local markets near the harbor.
