Bordered by Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ontario, Lake Superior is the largest of the Great Lakes, containing as much water in it as all of the other Great Lakes combined. Lake Superior's shores are home to rocky cliffs, waterfalls, rivers, cobblestone beaches, rolling hills, scenic forests and several state parks. Popular activities on the lake include kayaking, fishing and whale-watching. The clear waters of Lake Superior also make it an excellent option for underwater activities such as diving for shipwrecks. The average underwater visibility is 27 feet and reaches up to 100 feet in some places. Port cities such as Marquette, Duluth, and Sault Ste. Marie are often visited on Lake Superior itineraries.
