Thickly wooded hills teeming with birds, wild orchids and cuscus grace the eastern coast of Yamdena Island. Although the island is largely uninhabited, visitors to populated areas are greeted by local schoolchildren singing and dancing as a way of welcome. Guides lead visitors to the main village where several Indonesian delicacies are available to sample.
