See the Dazzling Hotels Included in the (Unofficial) 2017 Oscars Gift Bag-October 2024
Oct 30, 2024 10:19 PM

While only one winner can take home the coveted Oscar in each category, the other nominees can still come out on top. For 16 years, Los Angeles–based marketing company Distinctive Assets has been putting together unofficial gift bags for Oscar nominees in the following categories: Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Director, and the host of the event. (It’s important to note that company has no affiliation with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and, in fact, the Academy filed an infringement lawsuit against the firm last year.) This year’s bag is appropriately named “Everyone Wins,” and includes such quirky goodies as SweetCheeks cellulite massage mats, Rouge Maple pure organic maple syrup, and a Crayola My Way customized box of crayons, as well as luxurious gifts like 10 sessions with a celebrity personal trainer, an in-house sommelier service—and several luxury vacations. Included in this year’s gift bag are stays at Lost Coast Ranch, a private mansion in Northern California; Grand Hotel Tremezzo on Lake Como; Koloa Landing Resort at Poipu in Hawaii; and Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria in Sorrento, Italy. Here, we give you an zzdtravel.com tour of the latter two properties.

Koloa Landing Resort at Poipu in Hawaii

Nominees are offered a five-night stay at this luxury resort on the island of Kauai. It’s known for its massive villa-style rooms, each of which has its own lanai.

Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria

Nominees are also offered a three-day stay at this luxury hotel in the seaside town of Sorrento, Italy. The Fiorentino family opened the hotel in 1834, and the property is currently run by the family’s fifth generation.

The Pavarotti Suite.

Some might ask how these hotels are willing to give away such luxurious stays. The answer is simple: Only about 10% of nominees actually redeem the stays, as Distinctive Assets’ Lash Fary told “The Los Angeles Times.” We suppose the nominees do have quite busy schedules, but how can anyone pass up an amazing vacation?!
