  Travel tips

Now you know how to get to the stadiums, we thought we’d share some extra tips on how to cut the cost of your train travel.

  Book in advance

Most train companies release their cheapest tickets in advance. In the UK it’s usually 12 weeks before the date of travel, whereas in France and Italy it can be between 3 to 6 months ahead of time. If you've got your rugby tickets sorted, it’s worth booking your train tickets as soon as possible to get the best savings.

  Group train tickets

In the UK, many of the train companies offer GroupSave train tickets during Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak times – saving you up to 34% if you’re travelling in a group of 3 to 9 people.

If you’re heading to a match in Italy, Trenitalia – the main train company in Italy – have an Offerta Insieme offer for groups of 2 to 5 people, meaning you can receive a 50% discount on Base tickets in First and Second Class on most trains. Find out more about Italy train offers.

Heading to a match in Paris? Groups of 4 to 7 people can receive a 25% discount on TGV and Intercités trains.

  Get a Railcard (UK only)

If you’re heading to Twickenham, Murrayfield or the Principality Stadium, why not see if you can qualify for one of nine national Railcards. Whether you’re travelling with a friend, live in a certain part of the UK or fall into a certain age category, you can save up to 1/3 on train travel for a whole year for just £30.
