If you’re a “Game of Thrones” fan, you might be wont to visit one of the show’s iconic filming destinations around the world on your next vacation, but there’s a new GOT-inspired spot you might want to check out instead. Head way up north (we’re talking above the Arctic Circle) to the Kittilä resort area of Lapland, Finland, and you’ll find a new GOT-themed ice hotel in Lapland Hotel’s SnowVillage, thanks to the hotel brand’s partnership with HBO Nordic.
Ice sculptors from Russia, Poland, Latvia, and Ukraine decorated the 10 guest rooms (there’s also a restaurant, bar, and chapel) with works inspired by the series. In one room, a menacing White Walker hovers over the bed, its eyes lit in electric blue. In another, you’ll find Braavos’ Hall of Faces. There is, of course, an icy replica of the Iron Throne, too, guarded by none other than Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane (in ice form).
While you might want to stay for days to try out all 10 guest rooms, the hotel recommends you only spend one night at a time there. While guests are provided sleeping bags and warm berry juice in the morning, it’s still quite frigid: Temperatures are as low as 23 degrees Fahrenheit inside. You can, however, stay inside a heated log cabin at the SnowVillage, which is a much toastier experience. If you can’t make it all the way to Finland, you can always enjoy a tour of the hotel below.
