As with any Times Square hotel, guests pay a premium for location — but at the Renaissance they also get to stay in an up-to-date hotel with a fun and extravagantly designed lobby and lounge area, attentive service, and comfortable beds. If you want proximity to the bustle of Times Square, this is a very solid choice.

This bustling, convention-focused, 863-room Westin has a prime Times Square location, a high-quality gym, a business center, a spa, a steakhouse, 24-hour room service, and enormous rooms with famously comfortable beds.
Midtown East

A homey, 60-room, literary-themed boutique, located down the block from New York’s famous Public Library, and among Midtown East’s corporate skyscrapers. It’s one of New York’s best values, with some nice perks — free Wi-Fi, free gym passes, and free daily pastries, wine, and cheese — plus an upscale bistro on the ground floor and a lively bar on the penthouse floor.

Clean rooms, an excellent, uncommonly quiet Times Square location, and a happening lounge — for the price, the Time is a fine option. But the nearby Dream and Mela provide more comfort and style, and the many nearby chains, like the Marriott Marquis, come with much bigger and more comfortable rooms.

Since its 2008 renovation, the 770-room Crowne Plaza boasts spacious rooms, great views, a top-notch gym with a lap pool, and attentive service, all of which make it a premier pick in the heart of Times Square. Just watch the nickel-and-diming: $19.95-per-day fee for Wi-Fi and $10 for gym access.
