The Coolest Tech Luggage Out There
The Coolest Tech Luggage Out There
Jul 7, 2024 9:40 AM

An increasing number of luggage manufacturers are adding features such as USB charging ports and tracking devices to their suitcases, and plenty of today's travelers are finding that regular old suitcases no longer fit the bill. If you're looking for a new suitcase and feel that something smarter is in order, here are four of the coolest tech-enabled options out there.

Modobag

While plenty suitcases nowadays feature high-tech extras, Modobag takes things a step further by making luggage ridable. These stranger-than-fiction suitcases can be mounted like tiny golf carts (they even have memory foam seats to make the experience more comfortable) and reach speeds of up to eight miles an hour. Plus, the steering columns double as pull-out handles, in case you want to lug your suitcase around the boring, old-fashioned way.

Raden

Offering what are arguably the most attractive smart suitcases out there, Raden manufactures sleek, lightweight hard-shell cases in a range of classic and pastel hues. Integrated features in each include an ever-so-useful in-built scale and a power bank for charging devices; fortunately, the power bank is detachable, as some countries don’t allow power banks in checked luggage. It also comes with an iOs app that Raden owners can use to track their suitcases, check their weight, or access general information ranging from TSA wait times to flight details.

The Space Case 1

One of Kickstarter’s success stories, the recently funded Space Case 1 certainly comes with more tech features than your average piece of luggage. These include a super-secure fingerprint opening system, an integrated self-weighing scale, and a bluetooth speakerphone, along with “standard” tech features such as a power bank and in-built location tracking.

The Away Carry-On

While Away cases don’t have all the bells and whistles found in some of the latest smart suitcases, they are among the more affordable options out there. (The Carry-On model costs $225, a reasonable price for a high-quality suitcase — whether smart or not.) Features include a removable battery, plus two USB ports. They also offer a lifetime warranty, along with a 100-day trial period in case you decide it’s not the case for you.
