If there are two things that define Delhi, they have to be history and food. And the best part is that they can very much be enjoyed together, given Delhi's incredible roster of restaurants that boast a sweeping view of iconic landmarks scattered around the capital. Whether you are visiting just for a few days or are a resident looking for a spot with a gorgeous view for that romantic dinner date, these restaurants in Delhi is where you should be to enjoy the best of both worlds:

  Lakhori by Haveli Dharampura

Lakhori at Hotel Dharampura

As you snake through the narrow bylanes of Chandni Chowk, passing by lehenga, jewellery, and paratha shops, you will discover the true flavour of Old Delhi. The UNESCO-awarded Hotel Dharampura is a quaint, luxurious spot tucked away from noise while keeping the essence of Purani Dilli alive. Lakhori, named after the bricks used to make the intricately crafted in-house restaurant, brings you an exemplary selection of Mughali dishes and, with it, a gorgeous view of Old Delhi's rustic skyline from their spacious terrace.

Even better is the seven-course chef's tasting menu, which features all the must-have dishes in right measure, so that you don't miss out on any of it. If you're up for the daunting task of ordering from their menu, then top picks include palak patta chaat, bed puri and aloo sabzi, purani dilli ke gilouti kebabs, subz shabhnami and shahi paneer makhani. Of course, for the perfect ending, order their perfectly silky and aromatic phirni.

Address: 2293, Gali Guliyan, Dharampura, Delhi-6. Drop off point: Jama Masjid Police Station

  Dramz

The view of the Qutub Minar lit up in all its glory always takes your breath away, no matter how many times you have seen it. Don't believe us? Go to Dramz in Mehrauli and put it to the test. However, that is not only why you must go. Equally impressive is their expansive menu that boasts an array global cuisines, including Japanese, European and even Indian. Must-haves from it include spaghetti, alla vodka pasta, and avocado truffle bite. Don't forget to indulge in their cocktail menu, featuring both classics and interesting in-house concoctions like the dragon fruit gin sour. Dramz also frequently hosts DJs and musicians, so keep an eye out on their socials for any interesting events.

The Teppanyaki and Barbecue options are worth trying too. You cannot miss the Moroccan Platter, Togarashi Pineapple Roll, and Wild Mushroom Risotto at the rooftop restaurant.

  Gumbad Café

You may think it is next to impossible to get an empty spot and absorb the beauty of the Jama Masjid, given how chaotic it can get with rikshaws and scooters whizzing past. However, there is one spot where you will get an un obstructed view and that is at Gumbad Café, located on Aiwan-E-Shahi hotel. Chances are that all the beautiful close-up pictures of the 17th-century monument you have seen on Instagram where taken here. While it is not the most frequented for its food, they do a decent job at covering the basics. We would suggest you go for small bites like a classic pesto sandwich or mutton burger, enjoy the view and get serious gram-worthy shots, and then take to the lanes for a plate of hot mutton korma and khameeri roti.

Heritage Walking Trails In Delhi

  Mia Bella

Located on the second floor, Mia Bella overlooks the gorgeous emerald-green Hauz Khas lake framed by sky-high trees and the tombs scattered on the grounds. Add to that its arched windows and colourful decor, and you've got just the right place for a catch-up session with your friends. Their menu is just as lovely as the view, with a good mix of comfort foods and all-time favourites like spinach lasagne, kibbeh kebab and ricotta ravioli. But we reckon that the best time to visit is during evenings, just as the sun is beginning to set—all you need to do is a grab a spot overlooking the lake, order one of their craft cocktails or coffees, and let the setting do its magic.

  Carnatic Café at Sunder Nursery

Filter coffee at Carnatic Cafe is a must

Not like one needs any reasons to visit Sunder Nursery during winters, but if you're looking for one, how about a plate of hot and crispy ghee roast dosa and steaming filter coffee? Carnatic Cafe has opened up its newest outpost at the UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is already witness to a beeline of patrons. But don't let that dissuade you from joining in—it is all worth it once you've scored a table and placed your order. If you're a first-time visitor to Carnatic Cafe, go for the iconic Malleshwaram 18th cross or play it safe with their classic ghee roast dosa and, it goes without saying, filter coffee. If you want to indulge more, grab a scoop from Jaatre's line-up of irresistable crafted ice-creams—we recommend palm jaggery and roasted sesame. If you are planning a visit over a weekend do not forget to keep an eye out for a host of events at the nursery. You could find yourself at a book talk, a farmer's market or even buying handcrafted soaps and perfume.

Address: Lake Side, Sundar Nursery, opposite Humayun's Tomb, Nizamuddin, National Zoological Park, Sundar Nagar, New Delhi, Delhi 110013
