From breathtaking landscapes to majestic caves, mountains and pristine beaches – Vietnam is an all-rounder holiday destination. This place is a dreamland for adventure lovers – starting from trekking through the rice fields of Sapa, exploring the caves of Phong Nha-Ke Bang, and motorbiking through the scenic Hai Van Pass to kitesurfing along the coastline of Mui Ne – it has it all. Here's a detailed guide to all the things adventure lovers can do in Vietnam.

  Trekking & Hiking

Sapa is known for its spread of rice fields

From dense jungles to misty mountains and serene countryside – Vietnam makes for a perfect place for trekking and hiking. Among the top places to trek are Sapa and Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. Sapa is known for its spread of rice fields, mountain views and cultural diversity. While trekking through the green rice paddies along the mountainside, you can witness the views of the magnificent Mount Fansipan, also called the 'Roof of Indochina'. You can also visit the villages of Ta Van, Cat Cat, etc, where you can meet local tribes like the Hmong that reside in these villages. Another place that is great for trekking is the jungle adventure in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, where you can spot species like pangolins and langurs and also explore the Hang Son Doong – the largest cave in a multi-day trek or Hang En Cave during day hikes. For a more challenging trekking experience, you can trek through the jungle of Cat Tien National Park and spot wildlife and experience raw wilderness.

  Water Adventures

Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay are the top two places that are known for kayaking

The pristine bays and vast coastlines of Vietnam offer numerous water activities. Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay are the top two places that are known for kayaking, and you can also explore hidden caves, lagoons, and beaches. You can kayak through caves like Hang Toi and Hang Luon, and while kayaking, don't forget to spot small fish and jellyfish in the clear waters of the ocean. For snorkelling and scuba diving, do not forget to visit Nha Trang, which is celebrated for its marine life and coral reefs. The Hon Mun island here is home to tropical fishes, colourful corals and also shipwrecks. The Phong Nha-Ke Bang is also home to caves that have underground rivers like the Hang Son Doong. Here, you can also zip line across the Chay River and swim in the caves.

  Cave Exploration

Vietnam is home to some of the most extraordinary caves

Phong Nha-Ke Bang in Vietnam is home to some of the most extraordinary caves – offering a perfect blend of adventure, natural wonder and history. Among the must-explore caves is the Hang Son Doong, which is the world's largest cave. It has underground rivers, misty skylights and a cloud forest growing inside, allowing sunlight to seep into the cave. Another cave is the third largest in the world, standing beside an underground river – Hang En, with a massive entrance and an interior beach. The water cave of Phong Nha can be reached by boat and is a must-see for its limestone rock formations and underground river. Another cave, Hang Toi or the Dark Cave, is not only known as a fascinating cave to visit but also involves activities like zip-line, swimming, kayaking, and even mud baths.

  Motorbiking Adventures

Lang Co Beach offers a great coastal experience

If you love to ride a bike, then take your adventure to the next level by riding along the scenic roads of Vietnam. The most scenic routes include the Hai Van Pass's coastal roads for views of both the mountains and the South China Sea.
