With the new year comes New Year’s Resolutions, and we all know what that means: “Getting fit” will skyrocket to the top of many people’s priority lists. And while staying active on the road isn’t too hard — many hotels offer state-of- the-art cardio and strength training equipment — we know that treadmills can get downright boring after a while. So we’ve found the hotels that have that will add a little spice to your workouts in 2011, and below we’ll tell you where to find them.
At this Orlando hotel, have fun while you get fit: Rent a kayak ($20 for 1 hour) and paddle on Grande Lake, or book the day-long Kayak School ($295 per person), an eco-tour (2 hour excursion, $60 per adult, kids are free!), or a morning row ($20 per person for 1 hour).
Kayaking at the Ritz-Carlton can be inexpensive and fun.
The Montelago Village Resort, located on Lake Las Vegas, offers guided kayaking trips on Lake Mead and the Colorado River. There are full-day ($150 per person) and half-day packages ($100 per person) that include gear, water, snacks, and lunch. If it is too cold for kayaking, try ice skating on the floating rink (November through February; $15 for adults and $12 for children).

Canyon Ranch Miami includes a 70,000 square-foot spa and fitness center with a special treat: rock climbing. Complimentary orientation classes are provided at two-story rock wall, and after that it costs $50 for 25 minutes or $95 for 50 minutes. If you are looking for a true spa experience with a focus on healthy living, Canyon Ranch is your hotel.

The Palazzo and The Venetian share the Canyon Ranch fitness facility, which includes a 40-foot indoor rock climbing wall. A one-day Passport for the spa facilities is $40, though it will cost an additional $20 for a 25-minute rock climbing session. When you’re done hitting The Strip or the spa, relax in one of the hotel complex’s 7 pools.
