The Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program allows you to earn points toward free nights at Marriott properties while enjoying valuable perks when you gain elite status. Marriott PointSavers is a part of the Bonvoy program and features reduced points on redemptions when booking at eligible properties worldwide.

If you're hoping to make the best use of Marriott points for travel, booking through the PointSavers program is something to consider. Especially since after March 2022, Marriott will remove its award chart and switch to dynamic pricing. How Marriott PointSavers promotions work

The PointSavers program allows you to book stays at participating Marriott properties while saving up to 20% on points redemptions.

The number of points you need to book depends on the hotel category and whether you're booking off-peak, standard or peak room rates. Here's a look at how many points you'll need to book through PointSavers, based on tier and rate:

You'll find sweet spots in the PointSavers award chart most often during the off-peak times where you'll get the full 20% discount off the normal points rate of 5,000 for a Category 1, 10,000 for a Category 2 or 15,000 for a Category 3.

For standard rates, you'll only get the 20% discount off Category 1 hotels (normally 7,500 points). While you won't find any 20% discounts during peak times, you can still get 15% off the Category 1 hotel rate of 10,000 points and 10% off the highest-rated hotels (Category 8) rate of 100,000 points.

Promotions are good at participating Marriott PointSavers hotels worldwide. Hotels can decide when to offer PointSavers bookings, so you may be limited to using these redemption rates on certain dates.

How to find Marriott PointSavers hotels

It only takes a few steps while booking to uncover these deals.

Input your travel dates

On the PointSavers redemption page of the Marriott Bonvoy website, you'll enter your destination, number of rooms/guests and travel dates. If you want to view all available PointSavers dates for a particular destination, you can select "Flexible Dates" from the calendar view.

Modify your search to use points/certificates

Next, you'll check the box that says "Use points/certificates," then click "Find hotels." The search results will show a list of properties with PointsSavers rates for your chosen travel destination.

Consider flexible dates for more options

When you choose flexible dates on the calendar view, you'll be able to see a list of properties. Select the hotel you’re considering, and all available PointSavers redemption dates for the month will be shown.

For example, below are the nightly rates available at Marriott's Harbour Point and Sunset Pointe at Shelter Cove in January 2022.

Select your redemption

Once you choose your dates, you can click on the calendar to schedule your booking. You'll be given a list of all of the available PointSavers rooms for the dates you choose.

Finish your booking

The last step is selecting a room and completing your booking. You'll need a credit card to hold your reservation, but you still have the option to cancel PointSavers bookings 24 hours before arrival.

Are Marriott PointSavers the best use of Marriott points?

With PointSavers, Marriott bookings can be less draining to your points total. Getting up to a 20% discount on points isn't too shabby when you're trying to save on travel. And you may be able to extend your savings even more if you're pairing a PointSavers booking with a fifth-night-free award.

What you should keep in mind is that PointSavers dates may not always match up with your desired travel dates. Plus, not all Marriott properties may offer PointSavers as a redemption option. So that may limit how often you're able to use them for booking discounted travel and may require more time spent searching for eligible properties and dates.
