Which is the Best Hyatt Credit Card Offer?
Which is the Best Hyatt Credit Card Offer?-November 2024
Nov 7, 2024 4:58 AM

Hyatt has spent the last few years expanding its portfolio of hotels to better compete with the likes of Marriott and Hilton. Along with these developments, Hyatt has launched a small business version of its co-branded credit card.

But which Hyatt credit card should you get? And which Hyatt credit card has the higher sign-up bonus? Let’s take a look at these two cards to see which one makes sense for you. And note, you don't need to own a small business to be able to qualify for a business credit card. Even side hustles or sole proprietorships can be enough to qualify.

The World of Hyatt Credit Card is currently offering a rather wonky welcome bonus. You have the opportunity to earn up to 60,000 points, but you’ll have to meet two different spending requirements.

Earn 30,000 Bonus Points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening. The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card, meanwhile, has a much more traditional welcome offer: 60,000 Bonus Points after you spend $5,000 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening.

It’s easy to see that the business card’s welcome offer is superior. You’ll need to spend just $5,000 in total to receive your lump-sum bonus, as opposed to the World of Hyatt card’s requirement to spend at least $15,000.

And it’s easier to qualify for a business card than you might think. Even side hustles will make you eligible as a business owner.

Annual fee

The World of Hyatt Credit Card charges a $95 annual fee, which can be offset with the annual free night certificate the card provides.

The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card charges more than double, with a $199 annual fee, but it also provides up to $100 each year in statement credits in addition to the free night certificate you’ll receive, essentially nullifying any out-of-pocket cost.

Spending toward elite status

Both cards will allow you to earn elite night credits toward elite status by spending on your credit card, but the earning rate differs.

The World of Hyatt Credit Card earns two elite night credits for every $5,000 dollars you spend, which is better for people who won’t put as much spending on this card. Bigger spenders would do better with the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card, which earns a slightly better rate of five elite night credits for every $10,000 you spend on your card.

Perks that are the same

Bonus points at Hyatt hotels. Both of these cards earn 4 points per dollar spent at Hyatt hotels — not including the 5x points every World of Hyatt member earns on stays.

Elite status. You’ll receive Discoverist elite status as a holder of either of these cards, though the business version also lets you extend this to employees.

No foreign transaction fees. Neither card will charge you for using it overseas.

Benefits unique to the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card

If you’re looking to acquire the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card, you’ll receive a few perks that are accessible only to these cardholders, like:

$100 statement credit. You’ll be able to receive up to $100 each year in statement credits by spending at least $50 at a Hyatt property. This benefit can be redeemed twice per year, granting you a total of $100 in credits.

Redeemed point rebate. After spending $50,000 in a calendar year, you’ll receive a 10% rebate on all World of Hyatt points that you spend. Though this benefit maxes out on a total of 200,000 points redeemed per year, that’s a potential savings of 20,000 points.

Benefits unique to the World of Hyatt Credit Card

There’s just one main perk that the consumer version of this card offers that is unique: the ability to earn a second free night certificate valid at up to Category 4 hotels after spending $15,000 on your card within a calendar year.

Choose the best Hyatt credit card offer for you

So which Hyatt credit card offer is the best? If you have a small business and the ability to spend a good deal on your credit card, the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card can be well worth your while, especially if you’ve got employees with whom to share elite status.

Otherwise, the World of Hyatt Credit Card offers excellent benefits for a modest annual fee, including the opportunity to receive an annual free night certificate.
